I would like to use this space to share excerpts of some of the mail I have received from readers of The Games Do Count.

The following is a photo I received from Iraq via email:

I received this photo from Ollie North serving in Ramadi Iraq. And a note from Mal James, of Fox News Channel: "Number 1 best seller in Ramadi Iraq , no Doocy or O'Reilly here in the 17th street Marines outpost deep in the city of Ramadi Iraq; sandbags cover the windows so the crowd outside cannot see the literature gem inside."

The following is a note and card I received from a reader:

Dear Brian:

I bought your book for my 11 year old son, Tom, for Christmas. Thought it was too much to ask to have you sign it for him, he's a big sports fan (plays baseball, football, tennis and sails). He's also very interested in politics. When asked why he knows so much about current events he told his classmates, "I watched Steve, E.D. and Brian." Thanks for supporting our troops!

Sincerely,
Karen Breen

The following letter is from a proud Marine's mother:

Dear Brian:

Please forgive me for taking so long to thank you for your generosity to my son, Andy Ching and me. Congratulations on your best selling book! I am delighted for you that it has made the top ten-bestseller list.

I wanted you to have an idea of the young man your wonderful book is going to, so I am sending you these photos.

Andy began sports at age 5, playing T-ball. He played baseball, Pop Warner football, Church basketball, high school wrestling, baseball, and football, then to college football. After graduating from college, he chose to go to Paris Island Boot Camp (he was an honor graduate), then Officer Candidate School at Quantico, VA flight school in Pensacola, Florida. He is now married to a lovely young lady and he is a Captain in rank in the Marine Corps.

Captain Andy Ching: Marine and athlete.

Andy flies a CH-53 Super Stallion helicopter. He received his gold wings in Pensacola on Friday, September 14th, 2001, only three days after 9-11. As you can imagine, his entire family is very proud of him.

Thank you so much for your interesting book. It will be heading for the Al-Anbar Province in Iraq, along with some cookies and other things from mom.

Sincerely,
Maurine Carlisle Ching
